Hikes
Sunset spring hike
FRI 24.07 at 20.00, starts in front of the Kondas Centre
This hike takes you to the springs of Viljandi. We’ll talk about water and taste the water. The festival’s theme “To Each Their Own Instrument” naturally flows into the hike’s spirit. If we’re already out in nature, then everyone should have their own instrument too. Some people bring an instrument along on the hike, while others find one in nature itself, for example, a leaf instrument or a whistle made from a stem of grass. Or we can grab a knife and carve a reed flute. An instrument for everyone!
The spring hike lasts until sunset. The guide is the man of nature Peep Tobreluts.
Midnight hike
SAT 25.07 at 01.00 (on the second festival night after the Friday programme has ended), starts in front of the Kondas Centre
The hike begins at 1 a.m. and is more of a quiet glide – moving as silently as possible. Let’s walk through the sleeping town and discover the old and the new in the old town, from below and above. We may notice a ringing button or a shimmering tree … On the night walk, we won’t play any instruments, because the town is asleep. More or less. For some, by that hour it’s already time to say, “the instrument has had its day.” But perhaps a quiet wandering is exactly what opens the senses and lets an inner song out?
We’ll make no noise! The guide is the man of nature Peep Tobreluts.
NB! For safety reasons, we can only allow 15 people to join the hike and underage participants are only allowed if accompanied by an adult. Get there early to guarantee a spot!
